Privacy policy — Grease Log
Last updated: 26 October 2026
Grease Log is made by 77Cube LLC. This policy explains what the app does with your information. It is short because the app does very little with it.
The short version
Grease Log does not collect anything about you. Your machines, your service records, your readings, your photos and your notes stay on your phone. There is no account, there is no sign-in, and none of it is sent to us or to anyone else.
The one thing we receive is feedback you choose to send us from the app, described below.
We cannot see your records. We have no servers holding them, because there are no servers.
What the app stores, and where
Everything is kept in the app's own private storage on your phone:
- the machines you add, and their details
- hour and odometer readings
- service records, including any photos you attach. Photos are stored with their location information removed, so a receipt photographed at home does not carry where your home is
- the parts card and shopping list for each machine
- your settings
Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. That is why the app asks you to keep backups.
Backups and exports
The app can write a backup file, or a spreadsheet or PDF export, to a location you choose through your phone's own file picker. The app can only write where you point it.
Backups are not encrypted. Anyone who can open the file can read what is in it. If you save one to a cloud drive or share it, it is covered by that service's terms and your own account settings, not by this policy.
Android may also make its own backup of the app's database as part of your phone's backup and transfer features. That is handled by Google under your Google Account settings, and you can turn it off in your phone's settings. Photos are deliberately left out of Android's cloud backup.
Permissions the app asks for
- Notifications — only to remind you that a service is due. Asked for once, after you save your first service schedule. If you say no, the app carries on working and never asks again.
- Photos and camera — only when you choose to attach a receipt or a photo of a machine. The app uses your phone's own photo picker and camera, and does not browse your photo library.
- Storage access — only for the file you pick when saving a backup or an export, or the folder you choose for automatic backups.
The app does not use location, contacts, the microphone, or your phone's identifiers.
Feedback you send
More → Send feedback lets you send us a suggestion, a problem or a question. Nothing is sent unless you tap Send, and only what you type is sent:
- the kind of message you picked, and your message
- a reply email address, only if you choose to give one
No records, readings, photos, settings or device details are attached.
The message is delivered to us by Formspree (formspree.io), which acts as our processor and emails it to contact@77cube.dev. It is sent encrypted (https). Like any web service, Formspree also receives your phone's network (IP) address with the message. See Formspree's privacy policy.
We use feedback only to read it, reply if you asked us to, and improve the app. We never add you to a mailing list and never pass it on. We keep a message and any reply address while we are dealing with it, and delete them from Formspree and our mailbox no later than 90 days after it is resolved. To have yours deleted sooner, email contact@77cube.dev.
Internet
The app opens a network connection of its own only when you send feedback, and sends none of your records anywhere.
The other exception is Google Play's billing service, which the app asks whether you have bought Grease Log Pro. That conversation is between your phone and Google, it concerns your purchase and nothing else, and it is covered by Google's privacy policy. Google's billing library is also the reason the app lists an internet permission on the Play listing.
Payments
Grease Log Pro is a single payment handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your card details. The app itself only asks Google whether this phone's Google Account owns the purchase, and keeps the answer on the phone.
Like every developer on Google Play, we can see the order records Google keeps for sales: the order number, date, price and the country or region it was bought in, with the details Google provides for tax. We use them only for accounting, tax, refunds and answering your questions about a purchase.
Analytics, advertising and tracking
There are none. Feedback is only ever what you typed and chose to send. The app contains no analytics library, no advertising library, and no crash-reporting library. We do not build a profile of you, and we have nothing to sell to anyone.
The only information we ever see is what Google Play shows every developer in aggregate: how many people installed the app, how many uninstalled, crash counts, and any review you choose to write.
Children
Grease Log is a tool for looking after machinery and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear at this address with a new date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's listing.
